TEETHRINSING

Myofunktional Exercise  Collect ion

Application:

to enlarge click picture

This exercise is effective in improving of mobility and motility of tongue musculature and diaphragm as well, as for stretching the cheek textures in a hypertonic or the tendency to draw in or bite on the mucosa of the inner side of the cheek. It can also be applied as a relaxation exercise. (Anatomy: Complex muscle action – Area not stated, Regio I toV, Page 02).

Contents:

Move exercise for the volume of the Cavum Oris.

Materials:

Water or air.

Procedure:

- Previous exercises: The closure of the Cavum Oris on its rostral and retral side must be given; exercises for the Velum and Rima Oris.

-Starting position: ,L-M’ or BALLOON.

- Step-by-step-description:

-1 A moderate volume (a gulp) of water (in a more advanced state of training the breathing air will be sufficient) is pressed into one cheek pouch which by that through lifting up the tongue body / oral diaphragm is bloated (see UNILATERAL EXERCISES, BALLOON)   .

-2 By lowering the mouth floor, next, the volume from the cheek pouch is sucked out back into the oral cavity only to be immediately

-3 pressed into the cheek pouch of the other side.

The action may as well be carried out under a higher speed (frequency) or tone.

-Timing: For the frequency may be recommended a second-beat for the to and fro. For the duration of one sequence ten actions may be advantageous, a series may contain up to five sequences.

Characteristics:

Kinetic, Function-kinetic, Mobility, Motility, Tone raising, Coordination, Stretching, (Relaxation), UNILATERAL EXERCISES.

Remarks:

Observe nose breathing, avoid choking (aspiration). The mouth should be filled modestly.

Discussion:

Adapted in an application for relaxing as an UNILATERAL EXERCISES the exercise will be quite effective for relaxing.

A variation enhancing the training intensity and requiring a good coordination: The tongue tip is fixed to the POINT so that the mouth diaphragm is kept tensed. The effort to let flow the contents now will have to be managed solely by the cheek muscles thus resulting in a special work-out of the statics of the mouth floor as well, as of the contractility of the Buccinator.

Furthermore can be included in the exercise the rostral Vestibulum when practicing the switching between upper and lower lip (see TONOMETEREXERCISES, BALLOON).

Through these performances either a stretching, contraction or motility effect is gained on the “Outer Balloon cover” (Anatomy: Page 10, Illustr.:16). Moreover the pharyngeal and mouth slit closure is required.

Instructions:

Skills test!

Take a swig of water into your mouth and press it pronto into one cheek pouch – then back to the middle and, pronto, to the other side.

You should practice that now and then. We did agree about how long.

This was too easy? Can be made more complicated:

The tongue tip, now, will have to stay at its POINT. And now the same procedure again. This time, though, directly from one side right away into the other.

Still more complicated?

Push the water to the front, directly behind the lips then to the left side, then to the right and to the front again, always in a circle.

Still too easy?

Then the front only, behind the upper lip – behind the lower lip – up and down

If it works with the water you may as well take just air for practicing. This will in deed not clean the teeth but it will make the muscles strong and deft.
