To start the training                                

So now you also belong to the club of MFT-athletes, the club of tongue-fighters, maybe only since this afternoon, or maybe it's already been a few weeks. In any case, since you first spoke to your MFT- trainer. Probably a dentist, a speech therapist or your orthodontist. One thing is for sure, he or she will want to help you make your muscles stronger and more supple. And that is the most important job of a trainer. Surely you have seen on TV how the trainer makes the big football stars do bends and strenuous stretches, break into a sweat. Oh, I see - you mean, of course, for football or boxing or wrestling you need a whole lot of strong muscles, but not for speaking, chewing and swallowing? You're very much mistaken, if that's what you mean. The tongue and the lips are muscles that have to work all day long, and even when you sleep, they never quite rest. Quite a lot and heavy these muscles of the mouth actually have to work --                                    In fact, much more than the biceps and calf muscles.You need the biceps when you lift something or when you are romping with your friends; you need the calf muscles when you run or ride a bike. But when and how often do you have to lift something heavy? How many times a day do you run? How long do you ride your bike every day?  But you talk and swallow all day long, and chewing is not neglected either    Just think of all the snacks you eat when you sit in front of the TV. So, we are all agreed:

Your mouth- muscles need practice, workout!  Your main trainer for this job, your dentist, your speech therapist or your muscle function therapist: Your training programme is called   Mouthmuscle Function Therapy, also called Myofunctional Therapy or for short 'Emm-Eff- Tee =  MFT. Such a training programme contains our book in which you are reading right now. We, the bookwriters are the assistants of your trainer. But only the assistants and that means that you don't just have to read this book and then forget the lessons with your trainer. On the contrary, you should use this book together in your training work - you and your trainer. This will help you both; the work will be a bit easier. Your trainer can explain some exercises better to you, if you look at the book together. It's best to take the book with you to every training session. And what you might  have forgotten after the training session, you can look it  up again in the book at home. If you don't feel like exercising on your own in the meantime and stick points in the book, then you can join your siblings or friends to play the Championship Tongues Game together. The game board and the rules of the competition are at the end of the book Tongue Fighter, and then, further in the back, in a bag the competition badges for it (and, by the way, also the points to stick on the fields of the pages for all the exercises you did every day}. The only thing you need to have is a dice.

Now, as  you don't have a book, but everything on the screen, we have to improvise. Make yourself a printout of all the essential pages.

And, before we start the training: We make you the trainer of your tongue and it has to pass competitions for both of you. It is like in the picture on page 16 or in the "Game of dice" at the end of this Website. Look at the picture on the right. That is supposed to be you while coaching your tongue.
