Application:

to enlarge click picture

The exercise is used against hypertension, cramps and spasms or after training related tensions as well, as in rehabilitation with scar formation in the lip, presumably the constrictors and ring muscles (circular fibres), (Anatomy: Area I, 4, Page 05).

Contents:

The exercise represents a manipulated manual stretching of the perioral tissues.

Materials:

Not required (both middle fingers).

Procedure:

- Previous exercises: Not stringently required.

-Starting position: The mouth is kept relaxed and slightly opened.

- Step-by-step-description:

-1 The index fingers are hooking into the mouth corners from both sides.

-2  Now the fingers are pulling the oral fissure broad in a relatively gentle and steady manner to let a slight traction be felt in the tissue. The position is held while counting.

-2a If, instead of the relaxing stretching of the perioral musculature but a tissue extension is aimed at the teeth, now, are shown additionally: The true face of a spectre: ”This is the way you will frighten people, boo!”

b For an increase, now, index and middle finger both will be hooked in and

c as a further intensification both fingers be spread slightly.

-Timing: The training sequence includes a counting up to ten, later on increasing, perhaps up to fifty. If several sequences are linked to a series an intermittent easing with exercise BABBLE is quite useful.

Characteristics:

Stretching, Stretch aid, Manipulation, Mobility, Relaxing, Motivation.

Remarks:

When applied in the postsurgical rehabilitation or cicatrisation present in the lip textures proceedings should happen rather cautiously to avoid scar rupture; generally previous greasing before the training is recommendable.

Discussion:

In contrary to the exercise discussed  here the PULL-THE-TRUNK will have a stretching effect on the circular muscle tracks according to the almost contrary traction direction.

Thus these two exercise may be applied in an interactive supplementation. Both are, in their special way, acting on the mobility frame in an expanding way.

Through the described teeth baring the exercise gets a complex effect which may additionally be intensified by letting the lips counteract the drag of the fingers.

Under these conditions an intensive stretching will happen on the circular fibres with a simultaneous tone increase.

Instructions:
