UPPER LIP MASAGING (passive) |
Myofunktional Exercise Collection |
Application: |
to enlarge click picture |
In exceptionally serious cases with spasms or reduced textural mobility problems in the lip wall especially of the upper lip solely muscle function therapeutic exercises , seen from the duration of therapy, will not accomplish the desired success. In those cases it is well recommended to back up the exercises with methods enclosing manipulations and manual massaging (Anatomy: Area I/1, Page 03). |

Manipulation, massage. |
Remarks: |
This is no exercise influencing the functions of the affected musculature with the aid of functional muscle movements. Scar tissue contractures may be included in that treatment obeying to an appropriate caution. |
Discussion: |
The exercise is presumably shaped for the upper lip but may, with the respective adjustments, also exert its influence on the lower lip. Regarding stretching exercises for the lips also view the exercise list in the chapter CHUBBY LIP in paragraph “Discussion”. The massaging should, in the course of the therapy, be taken over as far as possible by the patient himself. After a successful improvement the exercise may be later on be replaced by myofunctional exercises. (See as well LIPSTRETCH.) |
Instructions: |
We have practiced together the massaging of the upper lip. It will be helpful to get lasting tension and stiffness elastic and to lengthen the lip. Even though being a cumbersome task it will be honoured with a worthy success, but only, when carried out three times a day at least. At first some ointment needs to be put on the skin to make it slippery. Then the forefinger settles down crosswise under the nose and then it goes down the lip slowly and with pressure, once and once again, as often, as we have agreed. Later on we will take up some original muscle exercises to let us proceed faster. |
