Location and Short Description of the Single Muscles of Area  V

 – Subhyoid Musculature –

V/1. Musculus sternohyoideus (pectoral-/hyoid muscles)

Site:/location:  Flat oval  muscle strap lateral to the frontal median line of the neck.

Fixation:
Origo:  Upper  Sternum rim (Manubrium)
Insertio: Os hyoides (Corpus)
Path: Horizontal upwards , covered  from the Platysma (I/13)
Action: Hyoid fixation und -lowering

Muscle exercises: Havin g followed this link  get back to this page  with 'arrow back' on your browser )

Generally with this exercise a distinction of suprahyoidal, subhyoidal ventral against the dorsal musculature is quite difficult, though a functional division of tasks is given so that in the  follow muscle exercises  for had posture and moving can be specified.:
Exercise for the whole Collum musculature for a not tensed "normal position" respectively  for a  tension decomposition is the BASIC-POSITION or the SITTING-POSITION , otherwise  see next paragraph (V/2)

V/2. Musculus sternothyreoideus (sternum - thyroid cartilage muscle)

Site:/location: Flat muscle strap parallel to the Sterno- hyoideus (1) Textfeld:

Fixation:
Origo:  Manubrium sterni, 1. rib
Insertio: Thyroid cartilage
Path:  Vertical upwards beyond the Sternohyoideus (1)
Action: Larynx fixation, -lowering

Muscle exercises: Havin g followed this link  get back to this page  with 'arrow back' on your browser )

forward  bending of the head: EASY NODDING, NAPE-DIALTOR.

Textfeld: V/3.  Musculus omohyoideus (scapula-hyoid muscle)

Site:/location: Biventral muscle bundle of muscles in the lateral neck region.

Fixation:
Origo:  Scapula (Incisura scapulae)
Insertio: Os hyoides (Corpus)
Path: Arc-shaped  forward and medially upward with an  intermediate tendon
Action: Hyoid fixation und -lowering

Muscle exercises: Havin g followed this link  get back to this page  with 'arrow back' on your browser )

Simultaneous to the analogue neck muscles the sloped tracks are tensed, see also den next paragraph V/4

V/4.  Musculus sternocleidomastoideus

Site:/location:
Fixation:
Origo: Twoheaded from the Sternum and Clavicula
Insertio: Processus mastoideus, Os occipitale
Path: Slanted to -frontal and up
Action: Head nodder and -tilter

Muscle exercises: Havin g followed this link  get back to this page  with 'arrow back' on your browser )

As described earlier in an action group with coaxial turns of the head around the body axis,  strengthening of the near side tracks, Stretching of the counterside: TURN, (head turn).

V/5.  Musculus trapezius

Site:/location:
Fixation:
Origo: Os occipitale
Insertio: Clavicula, Scapula
Path: Arcuate up and  to lateral
Action: Pectoral girdle movements

Muscle exercises: Havin g followed this link  get back to this page  with 'arrow back' on your browser )

The Trapezius is the Antagonist to the  frontal neck musculature and, through its  large plain, participating in all nodding and turning movements, see COLLUM EXERCISES.

V/6.  Musculus splenius capitis

Site:/location:

Fixation:
Origo: Neck- and thoracic vertebraTextfeld: see Abb.28a: Neck musculature

Textfeld:
see Abb.28a: Neck muscles (page 28)
Textfeld:
Insertio: Processus mastoideus, Os occipitale
Path: Lateral-upwards
Action: Head turner and -retractor

Muscle exercises: Havin g followed this link  get back to this page  with 'arrow back' on your browser )

NECK SIDE STRETCH

V/7.  Musculus levator scapulae

Site:/location:
Fixation:
Origo: cervical vertebrae
Insertio: Scapula
Path: up-, medianwards
Action: Scapula- lifter, -turner

Muscle exercises: Havin g followed this link  get back to this page  with 'arrow back' on your browser )

With Fixpoint Scapula: NECK SIDE STRETCH.

V/8.  Musculus scalenus

Site:/location: Anterior, medius, posterior; lateral  neck-and skeletal musculature

Fixation:

Origo: Transverse processes of the cervical vertebrae
Insertio: Ribs
Path: Down-outwards
Action: Alignment of the cervical vertebrae( Lifting  of the ribs for ventilation support)

Muscle exercises: Havin g followed this link  get back to this page  with 'arrow back' on your browser )

With Fixpoint rib lateral inclination of the cervical spine. NECK SIDE STRETCH.
