Anatomy

Area V and VI, Page 28

This chapter gives a general description of a collective group of exercises and details which are sharing the here described facts.  (Anatomie: Area V and VI, Page 28)

The musculature of the head can only then be divided from the neighbouring regions when using the device invented by the French physician GUILLOT – The GUILLOTINE. Apart from that there exists an intimate neural and muscular interconnection between

Orofacial, Mandibular, Diaphragm, Hyoid, Neck, Collum and Trunk musculature. It is this intertwining that causes neuro-muscular disorders to overlap to neighbouring muscle fields.

And it is this formation that MFT has to meet the disorders through an overlapping therapy approach  to avoid the boomerang-effect of disorders reacting from the adjacent fields after having succeeded in the therapy of an orofacial disorder (if it then would have happened at all with neglecting the said complexities).

Contents:

Mainly Stretching.

Materials:

Not required. In this connection it should be mentioned that stretching exercises can be manipulated: The prescribed movement direction can be supported with the helping hand (Autostretching).

Procedure:

- Previous exercises: Not required; (BASIC POSITION).

-Starting position: The Initial position should always be the BASIC POSITION or one of its features.

- Step-by-step-description:

-1The muscle action is carried out slowly and in the direction towards the target position until a tensioning is felt in the muscles (of the counter side). At this point the position is held while counting.

 -2 Return to starting position.

-3 Repetition.

-Timing: The exercise is continued with counting at the position gained, recommendable prescription between twenty and maximally sixty (approximately time in seconds).

Immediate repetitions can be imposed. It will make sense to insert other exercises after two to three repetitions.

Characteristics:

Stretching, Mobility.

Remarks:

As these exercises serve the therapy their carry-out should make demands on the tissues but not overtax them.

Discussion:

The significance of the exercises has been discussed at the beginning

We know different exercises for the different muscle tracks which are recorded in the following list. About indication and execution see the respective chapter.
