This chapter gives a general description of a collective group of exercises and details which are sharing the here described facts.

This group of exercises also is a part of the measures described in the chapter REAR ORAL CAVITY.  The problems addressed there, as Sleep-Apnoe or snoring, do also apply here. To offer a more substantial survey they are presented here in a specially confined scale.

Target area of the exercises are those defects which mainly influence the respiration (especially the nose breathing).

Through a targeted training the respective pharynx musculature is to be strengthened ore relocated into the physiological frame.

Contents:

Depending on the objectives the exercises will serve a muscle strengthening, the composition of a functional movement pattern or the habituation and moreover the realization of dysfunctions.

Materials:

Exercise specific.

Procedure:

- Previous exercises: Exercise specific; the exercises may be applied not only in combination with others but as well independently.

-Starting position: Mainly the RESTPOSITION.

- Step-by-step-description: Exercise specific.

-Timing: The exercises are practiced in the daily routine and, combined with mental Training, before falling asleep.

Characteristics:

Sensitation, Orientation, Stereognosis, Habituation, Motivation to self-monitoring, Feed-back, Function kinetic, Rest-position, Static or Kinetic.

Remarks:

As already pointed out in another connection the treatment of these cases is, as a result of the psychic component of the disorder, rather problematic and demanding a concentrated cooperation of the patient.

Discussion:

The following list will make it easier to find out the respective exercises as short descriptions point out the contents of the exercise.
